Abstract

Historically, patients were usually hospitalized for several weeks after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), which mainly consisted of a period of bed rest. (1)However, the length of hospital stay after TKA has decreased in the last decade through implementation of fast-track protocol.(2-6)
Moreover, the quality of life after TKA with fast track improves substantially during the first 3 months after hospital discharge, compared to the quality of life of patients treated with a non-fast-track... More protocol.(7) Also, a decrease in the number of complications and re-admissions can be achieved with the fast track rehabilitation protocols.(8,9)
