Abstract

Sram je afektivni odgovor na neuspjeh, defekt, iscrpljenje ideala i nedostignute ciljeve. Kao što krivnja nagoni pacijenta na priznanje (tražeći oprost), tako ga sram nagoni na skrivanje i povlačenje. Iz tog razloga, sram je bio puno manje razrađivan u psihoanalitičkoj literaturi, te se rjeđe bavilo s njim u psihoanalitičkoj terapiji. Za krivnju je protuotrov oprost, dok sram traži prihvaćanje, prihvaćanje selfa usprkos njegovim defektima, slabostima i neuspjesima. Jedino prihvaćanje može dovesti do cijeljenja rana uzrokovanih sramom. Nedostatak samoprihvaćanja je dominantno svojstvo iscrpljenog i depresivnog narcističkog pacijenta, što Kohut zove pacijentov “očaj bez krivnje”. Iz tog razloga selfobjekt/analitičar mora težiti formiranju samoprihvaćanja kroz produljeno empatičko zaranjanje u dubinu pacijentovog psihičkog sustava.

Abstract (english)

Shame is the affective response to falling short of a goal, to failure, to defect, to depletion of ideals. Shame motivates the individual to cover up, to hide, to withdraw. As guilt motivates the patient to confess, shame motivates him to conceal. For this reason, shame has been less richly evaluated in psychoanalytic literature, and less frequently dealt with in psychoanalytic therapy. For guilt, the antidote is forgiveness, whereas shame tends to seek the healing response of acceptance, acceptance of the self despite its weaknesses, defects, and failures. A lack of self-acceptance underscores the distress of the depleted, empty and depressed narcissistic patient, which Kohut calls the patient‟s “guiltless despair”. In that light, the selfobject/analyst must strive to facilitate self-acceptance through his own protracted empathic submersion into the patient‟s psychological depths.
