Abstract

Vrhunski sport zahtijeva mnoga odricanja i često velike napore u pomicanju granica ljudskih mogućnosti. Stoga je segment prehrane u sportu u posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća postao nezaobilazan. Danas, više nego ikada prije, ostvarivanje rezultata u
vrhunskom sportu prati znanost. Trening i prehrana usko su povezani, jer intenzivni trening izaziva pojačanu metaboličku, fizičku i psihičku aktivnost, pa su energetske potrebe sportaša veće nego potrebe ljudi koji se sportom ne bave aktivno. Proteinska suplementacija kod sportaša postala je složenija sa brojnim istraživanjima kojima se ocjenjuju učinci proteinske suplementacije na performanse i oporavak. Većina stručnjaka slaže se u važnosti konzumiranja cjelovite hrane kako bi se osigurao optimalan
unos hranjivih sastojaka, što je i koncept poznat i kao "food first". Prehrambeni dodaci predstavljaju pogodno i isplativo sredstvo za maksimaliziranje optimalanog unosa makro i mikrohranjivih sastojaka. Proteinski prah jedan je od najpopularnijih prehrambenih dodataka sportašima i ljudima koji žele dobiti mišićnu masu. Međutim, dovoljno proteina se lako može unijeti i konzumacijom hrane bogate proteinima. Prehrana bi se trebala individualizirati na temelju potreba za hranjivim tvarima koje ovise
o vrsti treninga i rasporedu treninga. Ciljevi uzimanja prehrambenih proteina također bi trebali biti odabrani na temelju individualnih ciljeva i periodizacije treninga. Proteinska suplementacija u sportaša ima mnogo ciljeva, uključujući rast mišića, snagu i oporavak. Svrha ovog diplomskog rada je pružiti uvid o vrstama proteinskih suplemenata, njihovoj korisnosti i učinkovitosti.

Abstract (english)

Top sport requires many sacrifices and often great efforts in pushing the boundaries of human possibilities. Therefore, the diet segment in sports has become indispensable in the last few decades. Today, more than ever before, achieving results in top sports is accompanied by science. Training and nutrition are closely related, because intensive training causes increased metabolic, physical and mental activity, so the energy needs of athletes are greater than the needs of people who do not play sports actively. Supplementation in athletes has become more complex with numerous studies evaluating
the effects of supplementation on performance and recovery. Most experts agree on the importance of consuming whole foods to ensure optimal nutrient intake, a concept also known as “food first”. Nutritional supplements represent a convenient and cost-effective means of maximizing optimal macro and micronutrient intake. Protein powder is one of the most popular dietary supplements for athletes and people who want to gain muscle mass. However, enough protein can be easily ingested by consuming protein-rich foods. Nutrition should be individualized based on nutrient needs that depend on the type of training and training schedule. Dietary protein intake goals should also be selected based on individual goals and training periodization. Protein supplementation in athletes has many goals, including muscle growth, strength, and recovery. The purpose of this thesis is to provide insight into the types of protein supplements, their usefulness and effectiveness.
