Abstract

Arterioskleroza je kronična upalna fibroproliferativna bolest krvnih žila. Jedan je od najčešćih uzroka mortaliteta i morbiditeta u svijetu. Kardiovaskularne bolesti, infarkt srca i moždani udar glavni su uzroci smrti u Republici Hrvatskoj. Endotelna lipaza je enzim iz skupine hidrolaza. Proizvode je stanice endotela, glatke mišićne stanice i makrofazi. Ekspresija endotelne lipaze povezana je s upalnim procesima u krvnim žilama. Količina endotelne lipaze u arteriosklerotskom plaku podudara se sa patohistološkom uznapredovalošću plaka. Opravdano je vjerovati da bi se u budućnosti mjerenje količine endotelne lipaze u serumu moglo koristiti kao prediktor i mjerilo uznapredovalosti arteriosklerotske bolesti u organizmu.

Abstract (english)

Atherosclerosis is a chronic, fibro proliferative, inflammatory disease that affects blood vessels. It is one of the main causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Cardiovascular diseases, myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular insult are main causes of death in Republic of Croatia. Endothelial lipase is an enzyme from the family of hydrolases. It is produced by endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and macrophages. Expression of endothelial lipase is associated with inflammatory processes in the blood vessels. The amount of endothelial lipase in an atherosclerotic plaque is in a direct association with the pathohistological degree of the plaque. It is therefore justifiable to believe that in the future the activity of endothelial lipase could be used to determine and measure the severity of atherosclerotic processes in the human body.
