Abstract

Uvod: Teška astmu je astma koja se teško liječi te zahtijeva liječenje visokim dozama inhalacijskih kortikosteroida, drugi kontrolor i/ili sistemske kortikosteroide.

Cilj: Procijeniti kakvu kvalitetu života imaju bolesnici s umjereno teškom i teškom astmom, koliko se razlikuje kvaliteta života u bolesnika s astmom različitih stupnjeva težine te kod pušača, bivših pušača i nepušača, mjereno SAQ upitnikom.

Ispitanici i metode: U istraživanju je bilo uključeno 100 ispitanika neovisno o spolu u dobi od 18 do 80 godina sa dokazanom astmom i sa FEV1 <80 %. Uključeni su bili pušači, bivši pušači te nepušači. Koristio se SAQ upitnik.

Rezultat: Bolju kvalitetu života imali su bolesnici s umjereno teškom u odnosu na bolesnike s teškom astmom. Nije postojala značajne razlike u kvaliteti života s obzirom na podatke o pušenju. Bivši pušači ili pušači, koji imaju umjereno tešku astmu imali su bolju kvalitetu života u odnosu na bolesnike s teškom astmom.

Zaključak: SAQ upitnik pouzdan je i vrijedan alat te se stoga može koristiti za ispitivanje kvalitete života u bolesnika s teškom astmom.

Abstract (english)

Introduction: Severe asthma is asthma that is difficult to treat and requires treatment with high doses of inhaled corticosteroids, another controller and/or systemic corticosteroids.

Aim: To assess the quality of life in patients with moderate and severe asthma, how much the quality of life differs in patients with asthma of different degrees of severity and in smokers, ex-smokers and non-smokers, as measured by the SAQ questionnaire

Patients and methods: The study included 100 subjects, regardless of gender, aged 18 to 80 years, with proven asthma and FEV1 <80%. Smokers, ex-smokers and non-smokers were included. The SAQ questionnaire was used.

Results:. Patients with moderate persistent asthma had a better quality of life compared to patients with severe asthma. There was no significant difference in quality of life with regard to smoking data. Ex-smokers or smokers who have moderate asthma had a better quality of life compared to patients with severe asthma.

Conclusion: The SAQ questionnaire is a reliable and valuable tool and can therefore be used to examine the quality of life in patients with severe asthma.
