Abstract

Alkoholizam je bolest koja se javlja zbog prekomjerne i dugotrajne uporabe alkoholnih pića. Konzumacija alkohola vrlo je raširena. O mogućim uzrocima alkoholizma postoje biološke, psihološke i sociološke teorije. Alkoholizam ostavlja posljedice na svim organskim sustavima. Važno je pravovremeno postaviti dijagnozu i započeti s liječenjem. Liječenje alkoholizma provodi se u bolničkim ili izvanbolničkim uvjetima. Obiteljska terapija je nezaobilazni dio u liječenju alkoholizma s obzirom da se na alkoholizam ne gleda kao na bolest ili poremećaj onoga koji pije, već cijele obitelji. U početnoj fazi liječenja provodi se detoksikacija dok se kasnije od lijekova i nadalje primjenjuje disulfiram, ali i drugi lijekovi poput naltreksona i akamprosata. Psihoterapija se provodi s ciljem ponovne uspostave zdravstvenog i socijalnog blagostanja. Primjenjuje se tehnika motivacijskog intervjua kao i kognitivnobihevioralna terapija s ciljem izmjene ponašanja tijekom konzumacije alkohola sa prihvatljivijim ponašanjem. Može se primjenjivati individualna kao i grupna psihoterapija. Primjenjuje se i terapijska zajednica koja koristi psihoterapijsku i socioterapijsku tehniku. Važno je pacijenta i njegovu obitelj potaknuti da se učlane u KLA gdje dobivaju poduku o alkoholizmu i sudjeluju u aktivnostima kluba. Pacijenti se mogu uključiti i u dobrovoljni program AA s ciljem održavanja apstinencije.

Abstract (english)

Alcoholism is a disease that occurs due to excessive and long-term use of alcoholic beverages. Alcohol consumption is widespread. There are biological, psychological and sociological theories about the possible causes of alcoholism. Alcoholism has consequences on all organ systems. It is important to diagnose it in time and start treatment. Treatment of alcoholism is carried out in hospital or outpatient conditions. Family therapy is an inevitable part in the treatment of alcoholism since alcoholism is not seen as a disease or disorder of just the one who drinks, but of the entire family. In the initial phase of treatment, detoxification is performed, while disulfiram as well as other drugs, such as naltrexone and akamprosat, are used in later treatment. Psychotherapy is carried out in order to restore the health and social welfare of the
affected persons. The technique of motivational interviewing is used, as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy, with the aim of replacing behavior during alcohol consumption with more acceptable behavior. Individual as well as group psychotherapy may be used. A therapeutic community that uses psychotherapeutic and sociotherapeutic techniques is also used. It is important that the patient and his family are encouraged to join the treated alcoholic club where they receive training on alcoholism and participate in club activities. Patients may also be included in the voluntary AA program in order to maintain abstinence.
