Abstract

Terapijska uporaba kanabisa prisutna je tisućljećima, no ipak rekreacijska upotreba kanabisa uvelike je ograničila ozbiljnija razmatranja kanabisa u terapijske svrhe. Bitne promjene dogodile su se otkrićem endokanabinoidnog sustava krajem 20. stoljeća i njegove potencijalne upotrebe u psihijatrijskim poremećajima, ali i brojnim drugim stanjima. Brojni istraživači odlučili su detaljnije istražiti ulogu kanabisa i njegovih derivata u medicinske svrhe. Kanabis sadrži više od 60 farmakološki aktivnih kanabinoida, a u posljednje vrijeme osim THC-a veliku pozornost istraživača privlači kanabidiol (CBD), glavna ne-psihoaktivna komponenta. Cilj ovo preglednog rada je istražiti trenutne dokaze o povezanosti kanabisa i psihoza, te korisne učinke fitokanabinoida u liječenju psihijatrijskih poremećaja uključujući anksiozne i depresivne poremećaje. Ipak, potrebna su daljnja detaljna istraživanja kako bi se razjasnila mnoga neriješena pitanja, posebno ona koja se odnose na procjenu koristi i rizika pri korištenju kanabisa u terapeutske svrhe.

Abstract (english)

Therapeutic use of cannabis has been present for millennia, but the recreational use of cannabis has largely limited the serious considerations of cannabis for therapeutic purposes. Significant changes have occurred after the discovery of endocannabinoid system at the end of the 20th century and its potential use in psychiatric disorders, but also in many other conditions. Numerous researchers have decided to explore the role of cannabis and its derivatives for medical purposes in more detail. Cannabis contains more than 60 pharmacologically active cannabinoids, and lately, apart from THC, great attention is drawn to cannabidiol (CBD), a major non-psychoactive component. The aim of this review is to investigate current evidence of cannabis and psychosis, and the beneficial effects of phytocannabinoids in the treatment of psychiatric disorders including anxiety and depression disorders. However, further detailed research is needed to clarify many unresolved issues, particularly those relating to the benefits and risks of using cannabis for therapeutic purposes.
