Abstract

Cilj ove retrospektivne longitudinalne studije je prikazati modalitete kirurškog liječenja u djece sa sekretornim otitisom (SO) u Klinici za otorinolaringologiju i kirurgiju glave i vrata Kliničkog bolničkog centra „Sestre milosrdnice“. Prikupljeni podatci su iz razdoblja od 1.1.2018. do 31.12.2020. godine. U navedenom razdoblju operirano je ukupno 124 bolesnika. Među operiranima prevladava muški spol koji čini 71 (57.3%) od 124 bolesnika. Prosjek dobi iznosi 5.1 godinu, a medijan 5 godina. Obostrani SO imalo je 107 (86.3%) bolesnika, a jednostrani 17 (13.7%) bolesnika. Od toga je 10 (8.1%) imalo desnostrani, a 7 (5.6%) lijevostrani. Osim primarne dijagnoze opisana je i učestalost sekundarnih dijagnoza među kojima prevladava hipertrofija adenoidnih vegetacija (HAV) od koje je bolovalo 108 (87.1%) operiranih. Svim bolesnicima napravljena je miringotomija. Većini bolesnika, njih 102 (82.3%) je uz miringotomiju implantirana ventilacijska cjevčica u lijevo, desno ili oba uha ovisno o zahvaćenosti. Opisane su i operacije obavljene u istom aktu. Adenoidektomiji ili readenoidektomiji je podvrgnuto 107 (86.3%) bolesnika. Tonzilektomiji je podvrgnuto 38 (30.6%) bolesnika. Metoda izbora kirurškog liječenja u većine djece sa SO su bile miringotomija s implantacijom ventilacijskih cjevčica i adenoidektomijom.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this retrospective longitudinal study is to present surgical treatment of children, suffering from OME, at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the “Sestre milosrdnice” University Hospital Centre in Zagreb. Data was gathered from 01.01.2018 to 31.12.2020. A total of 124 patients were operated on during the period. Among those operated, the male sex was dominant with 71 (57.3%) out of 124 patients. The average age was 5.1 years, and the median age was 5 years. Bilateral involvement was dominant with 107 (86.3%) out of 124 patients, while 17 (13.7%) patients had unilateral involvement. Furthermore, 10 (8.1%) of those had affected the right ear and 7 (5.6%) the left ear. All patients underwent myringotomy. A larger portion of patients (83.1%) had a myringotomy with a ventilation tube placement, then without it. The operations performed during the same procedure are also described. 107 (86.3%) patients underwent adenoidectomy. 38 (30.6%) patients underwent tonsillectomy. The method of choice in most children was ventilation tube placement and adenoidectomy.
