Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je analizirati što nam najnovija saznanja u području neuroznanosti mogu reći o empatiji te pružiti kratak pregled neuropsihijatrije. Rad je podijeljen u tri dijela. Prvi dio se bavi modernim razumijevanjem te temeljima neuropsihijatrije prema tumačenju Eric R. Kandelovih publiciranih radova. Upuštamo se u definicije i neuroznanstveno razumijevanje sjećanja i iskustva, te kako one mogu mijenjati samu ekspresiju proteina unutar neurona. U drugom dijelu se definira empatija, razmatra njena veza sa sustavom zrcalnih neurona i analiziraju neki zanimljivi eksperimenti. U zaključku raspravljamo mogućnosti koje leže u budućnosti neuropsihijatrije i empatije te teoretiziramo o empatijskim implikacijama budućih otkrića i dajem svoj stav po tom pitanju.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this paper is to analyze what the latest findings in neuroscience can tell us about empathy and a short summary of modern neuropsychiatrics. The paper is comprised of three parts. The first chapter of this paper is about the modern understanding and fundamentals of neuropsychiatry based on Eric R. Kandels published works. We delve into definitions and neuroscientific understanding of memory and experience and how those can alter even protein expression within brain cells. In the second part we define empathy, analyze its link to the mirror neuron system and analyze some interesting experiments. In the conclusion we explore the possibilities that lie in store for the future of neuropsychiatry and empathy, we theorize about the treatment implications of future discoveries and I present my stance on the question.
