Abstract

Utvrđivanje vremena i uzroka smrti važno je ne samo za obitelj preminule osobe nego i za policiju i zakonodavstvo u slučajevima kaznenog djela i u građanskim parnicama. Točna procjena poslijesmrtnog razdoblja nije moguća, unatoč iznimnom napretku sudske
medicine unatrag nekoliko desetljeća (primjerice DNA analiza). Svaki liječnik neovisno o specijalizaciji trebao b i biti educiran i sposoban odrediti vrijeme smrti tj. poslijesmrtno razdoblje. Svrha ovog rada je dati pregledni prikaz znakova smrti te različitih tehnika i zapažanja koje se koriste za njihovu procjenu. Znakovi smrti razvijaju se određenim redoslijedom, a na brzinu nastanka i stupanj izraženosti poslijesmrtnih promjena snažno utječu brojni vanjski i unutarnji činitelji. U radu se navode i opisuju rani znakovi smrti (mrtvačka ukočenost, mrtvačke pjege, mrtvačka hladnoća, isušenje i promjene na očima) i kasne znakove smrti (dekompozicija, saponifikacija, mumifikacija).

Abstract (english)

Estimation of the time and determination of the cause of death is important not only to the family of the deceased but also for the law enforcement and legislation in both criminal and civil cases. Determination of time of death is still imprecise, in spite of the tremendous progress in forensics over the past few decades, (for example DNA analysis). Any doctor, regardless of his/her specialty must be able to determine the time of death and postmortal interval. The purpose of this paper is to summarize and simplify signs of death and various techniques and observations for their estimation. Postmortem signs appear in specific order. The degree of expression is strongly affected by numerous extrinsic and intrinsic factors. The paper describes early postmortem signs (cadaveric rigidity, postmortem lividity, cooling of the body, desiccation and eye changes) and late
postmortem signs (putrefication, saponification and mummification).
