Abstract

Upala srednjeg uha je vrlo česta u pedijatrijskoj populaciji. Tvrdokorne upale srednjeg uha smo definirali kao upale srednjeg uha za koje je potrebno kirurško liječenje. Tvrdokorne upale srednjeg uha koreliraju s nekim karakteristikama djeteta kao što su spol, dob i prisustvo alergije. Također su češća kod djece koja su već preboljela upalu srednjeg uha i kod djece koja su već bila na antibiotskoj terapiji. Cilj rada je bio istražiti povezanost dobi, spola i alergije pacijenata s učestalošću tvrdokornih upala srednjeg uha u djece, utvrditi povezanost upale s brojem rekurentnih epizoda bolesti te utvrditi uzročnike upale i njihovu povezanost s prijašnjom antibiotskom terapijom. Istraživanje je bilo retrospektivno i uključeno je 27 djece koja su liječena miringotomijom. Rezultati nisu pokazali korelaciju dobi, spola i prisutnosti alergije s učestalošću upala. Broj prethodnih epizoda upala je bio povezan s kroničnom upalom srednjeg uha dok s ostalim kliničkim oblicima povezanost nije utvrđena. Najčešći uzročnik je bio S. pneumoniae, a slijedili su ga H. influenzae i S. pyogenes.

Abstract (english)

Otitis media is very common in children. Severe otitis media is defined as a middle ear infection which is treated surgically. Severe otitis media is associated with age, sex and the presence of allergies. Infections are more common in children with previous otitis media and previous antibiotic use. The aim of the study was to determine the association between the age, sex and presence of allergies with occurrence of severe otitis media, to asses the correlation between the number of recurrent episodes and the infection and to identify the pathogens and their association with previous antibiotic use. The study was retrospective and it included 27 patients treated with myringotomy. The results have shown no correlation between age, gender or presence of allergies with the occurrence of otitis media. The number of recurrent episodes was associated with only chronic otitis media. No association was found with other types of otitis media. The most common isolated pathogen was S. pneumoniae, followed by H. influenzae and S. pyogenes.
