World Health Organization).
Germ cell neoplasia in situ).
U zadnje izdanje WHO klasifikacije tumora mokraćnog sustava i muških spolnih organa su uvršteni i neki novi tumori porijekla strome i spolnog tračka.
Abstract (english) Testicular tumors are very heterogeneous and make approximately 1% of all tumors in male sex. Most testicular tumors occur from after the puberty until the middle age. This makes these tumors clinically, but also epidemiologically interesting and significant. Currently used and official classification of testicular tumors is WHO classification of tumors of the Urinary system and Male Genital Organs issued in year 2016.
The most common testicular tumors are germ cell tumors, which make approximately 90% of all testicular tumors. These tumors develop from the preinvasive intratubular lesion, called germ cell neoplasia in situ (GCNIS). The most common germ cell tumor is seminoma.
The second most common testicular tumors, after germ cell tumors, are sex cord and stromal tumors of the testis. They make approximately 2-5% of all testicular tumors. These tumors are histogenetically very heterogeneous; while some develop from sex-cord tissue, some from gonadal stroma, the tissue of origin of some is still unknown. The most common sex cord and stromal tumors of the testis are Leydig cell tumor and Sertoli cell tumor. Some additional, newly recognized tumors have been added to this group in the last WHO classification issued in 2016.
The aim of this study was to describe sex cord and stromal tumors of the testis and their most important epidemiological, clinical, morphological, immunohistochemical and cytogenetic features and also to present the incidence rate of sex-cord and stromal tumors of the testis at the Clinical Department of Pathology and Cytology, “Ljudevit Jurak”, Clinical hospital centre Sestre milosrdnice in period from 1 January 2011 to 20 May 2019.
