Abstract Uvod: U ukupnom broju kroničnih nezaraznih bolesti, kronična bubrežna bolest učestvuje sa
znatnim brojem oboljelih i predstavlja globalni javnozdravstveni problem. Uz aktivno liječenje hemodijalizom pravilna prehrana zauzima značajno mjesto u liječenju i ishodu bolesti.
muškarca i 28 žena prosječne dobi 62,16 ± 16,25 godina i dužinom liječenja 4,18 ± 4,51 godina.
(r = - 0,201; p>0,05). Zaključak: Veliki dio bolesnika ne slijedi preporuke o pravilnoj prehrani i konzumira
namirnice s visokim sadržajem natrija i fosfora. Dobiveni rezultati upućuju na važnost provođenja kontinuirane edukacije bolesnika. Dobrom edukacijom i unatoč ograničenjima u prehrani bolesnici se mogu dobro i kvalitetno hraniti.
Abstract (english) Introduction: The total number of chronic non-communicable diseases, chronic renal disease involved with a significant number of patients and represents a global public health problem. With the active hemodialysis, proper nutrition plays a substantial role in the treatment and outcome of the disease. Recommendations in the diet is mostly related to fluid intake, protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and vitamins. Objectives: To examine the dietary habits of hemodialysis patients and correlation between the frequency of consumption of non-recommended food and the length of hemodialysis treatment. Patients and methods: The study included 92 patients treated with hemodialysis; 64 men and 28 women, average age of 62.16 ± 16.25 years and the length of treatment 4.18 ± 4.51 years. Dietary habits were investigated by questionnaire on the frequency of consumption recommended or non-recommended food in the diet of patients treated with hemodialysis. Data was analyzed by statistical program SPSS 17.0, and the results were presented using descriptive statistics. Correlation between the numbers of non-recommended food that patients consumed once a week or more and a length of hemodialysis treatment was examined by Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: Results show that patients, once a week and/or more frequently consume food from all food groups high in potassium, phosphorus and sodium, and an average of 5.24 ± 2.67 patients consumed such food. The largest percentage of patients (16.3%) consumed three nonrecommended
food. There was no correlation length of hemodialysis treatment and the
number of non-recommended food that patients consumed once a week or more often (r = - .201, p> 0.05). Conclusion: A large part of the patients did not follow the recommendations on proper diet and consumed food with a high content of sodium and phosphorus. The results indicate the
importance of conducting continuing education of patients. Good education, and despite the limitations of the diet, patients would be able to eat well and choose good quality food.
