Abstract

Oštećenja središnjeg živčanog sustava, koja su uzrokovana moždanim udarom i ozljedom leđne moždine, jedni su od glavnih i najznačajnijih uzrok invalidnosti i smrti, kako u razvijenim, tako i u siromašnim zemljama. Čak i ako bolesnici uspiju preživjeti akutnu fazu bolesti, često preostaju veliki deficiti u senzorimotornom sustavu. Središnji živčani sustav ima određenu sposobnost oporavka, koja je pojačana stimulacije dijelova tijela metodama fizikalne medicine, što rezultira lučenjem čimbenika koji posreduju regeneraciju živčanih vlakana. Također, vježbe sprečavaju mišićnu atrofiju, koja je česta u bolesnika s motornim deficitima. Primjena robotskih uređaja u rehabilitaciji funkcije gornjih i donjih udova omogućava standardizaciju ponavljanja vježbi, ali i povećava sam broj ponavljanja, što rezultira kvalitetnijom fizikalnom terapijom.

Abstract (english)

Central nervous system damage, caused by stroke and spinal cord injury, is one of the main and most significant causes of disability and death, both in developed and poor countries alike. Even if patients manage to survive the acute phase of the disease, large deficits in the sensorimotor system often remain. The central nervous system has a certain ability to recover, which is enhanced by stimulation of body parts by methods of physical medicine, resulting in the secretion of factors that mediate the regeneration of nerve fibers. Furthermore, exercise prevents muscle atrophy, which is common in patients with motor deficits. The use of robotic devices in the rehabilitation of the function of the upper and lower limbs enables the standardization of repetition of exercises, but also increases the number of repetitions, which results in more effective physical therapy.
